Carr Reunion - 2011
It's official! The Carr Reunion will be at Mona and Ken's place in Castella. Here's the scoop.
When: August 5-7
You may arrive early and you may leave late. We don't care! Family occupation is anticipated until August 14, 2011. After that, UR OUT!
*Please no pets* There are no fences. Wet dogs running into the creek and through the reunion activities won't be fun for anyone. Especially not fun for all the new little Carr's we have on the loose.
Reunion Day Start to Finish!
Rise and Shine! Are you camping across the creek? Head over to the cabin for coffee, hot chocolate and a hot shower -- just make sure you bring your own towels & shower stuff. Oh, and clean up after yourself.
The cabin wll be reunion central. It will be open for your use. There will be some rooms taken by folks staying there, but you may use the kitchen, bathroom, and living room. One of the rooms will be set up as a nursery for little ones who need a nap or quite time. Please bring a pack'n play if you need one. There will be a place for older kids and adults to grab some down time too.
10:00am (ish)
Want to start the day with a hike? Meet at the cabin across the lawn from the house at 10:00. Don't forget to bring a snack or two and some water. The hike we take will depend upon who shows up. There is a short hike on Root Creek Trail, a mile-long path leading through the forest to its namesake creek. If the group is up for a more challenging hike, then Crags Trail will fit the bill. It is a 5.5 mile hike with a 2,200 ft elevation gain.
11:00 - 12:00
Mill about aimlessly. Talk with your cousins. Reacquaint yourselves. Check out the family history stuff set-up in the cabin. I can't wait to see the Chapman photo boards. Love those pic's of reunions past! Get ready for the family history trivia game. You could win a prize, unless you are Pat Carr. That wouldn't be fair. Pat has been the family historian for years. He would win everything. show off... Maybe Pat should be the official judge for the game. I vote yes to that!
Hot dogs, hamburgers, lemonade, and iced tea will be available throughout the day. Wine and beer will be available with dinner. If you want it earlier, you need to bring it with you. If you (or your kiddo's) have special dietary needs, or if you guys are just plain finicky, then you should bring stuff to eat and drink. Reunion rules: No fussin' No whin'n
12:00 - 1:00
Games and relays. Horseshoes and hand grenades. Ok. No hand grenades. Water balloons and super soakers.
1:00 - 4:00
Do what you want! Meet up for a tube run. Head to the swimming hole. Sit in the cool cabin and visit with the wise and honored Carr Clan Elders; you might learn something. Go fishing. Play golf. Take a nap. Grab a hot dog or hamburger. Hide.
4:00 - Dinner. Yum!
The meal will be catered by Ed & "Pinky" Hines. They have planned a fantastic menu: Tri-tip, Cajun Chicken, Salad, Beans and Bread.
7:00 or so -
Bonfire on the beach and possibly a Jazz/Blues concert on the lawn. Ken is working on that. More later...
Bring your guitar, harmonica, accordian, fiddle... whatever you play. (we may even have a keyboard available)
We Carr's have a tendency to break out in song.
Yes, this group can be quite the spectacle.

Why then? Why there?
Because it is John Carr's birthday 8/5/1957, Because it is Anna Pelka's birthday 8/6/2010, Because Great Grandpapa's cousin Patrick Carr was parish priest in Dunsmuir, Because Dino Boito attended Dunsmuir Elementary School, Because JohnReginato (born Delta) grew up down the driveway, Because Jean Dalaba (widow of Kenneth John Carr 11/16/1921-4/9/1945) is from Dunsmuir, Because after many years on Battle Creek, it is time to move to the north end of the county.
We Carrs have a tendency to spawn in the far north and make our way down the stream!
